10/31/05 - I've gotten quite a few e-mails from eager Cougar fans asking what's been going on and why am I such a slacker.  I turned on my computer last Thursday to finish CSU, but got a lovely message, "unmountable boot volume".  To translate that computerese for all of us normal folk, the hard drive crashed.  Luckily, I was able to revive it long enough to make a backup, but it still remains to see if I'll be able to retrieve the work done on CSU and the archives of all the videos.  So everyone cross your fingers.  Art Director has been kind enough to provide footage for me, so once I get the PC up and running I'll finish CSU and do something for AFA.  In meantime, go to http://www.justanotherdumb.com/byu/ to see some other highlights from other BYU fans.

I really think the Cougars are beginning the hit their stride.  One of the things that was a bit worrisome last year was that the offense, and games in general, were feast or famine.  The long ball is a lot of fun to watch, but what we seemed to be missing last year was consistency.  Excluding the SDSU game, the offense has moved the ball.  And Anae seems to have adapted the plays to the personnel.  It's terrific watching Tahi, Brown, and Harline take linebackers on and bowl them over.  None of this finesse stuff from last year. Warms my heart, really.

I'll keep everyone updated on when I'm able to get the desktop back online.  Should be within the week.

10/20/05 - I apologize that the CSU highlights haven't made it online yet.  I've received a couple of e-mails from Cougar fans needing your fix, I haven't forgotten you. This site takes quite a bit of work, and it's the e-mails from everyone that keeps it interesting.  Feel free to send me a message! Anyway, I've been a bit busy with work, but finally found some time today to extract all the highlight plays from the BYU vs CSU footage. I still need to do the transitions and music synch-up, so we'll see if I can get this out in time before Notre Dame.

I think Saturday should be a good one. The Mormons vs the Catholics is always fun. I unfortunately missed that fabulous game last week because of a last minute phone call to play the piano at a baptism (don't the sister missionaries know that fall and Saturday = football?), but Notre Dame looks like a great team.  We'll see how far this team has come, as I feel that BC and ND are pretty comparable.  Brady Quinn has become a quite the playmaker this season, and I'm not sure how our secondary will hold up against the 6'5" WRs.  But that's why they play the game, and you can tell that the team leaves it all out on the field.

Go Cougars, get Bronco his first win against a top 25 team (top 10 even)!

10/11/05 - So as the final seconds wound down, I found myself thinking "I can't believe we won!" How far we've fallen. You know the football program's down when you're thinking things like that. It's not "I can't believe we lost to Hawaii" or "I can't believe we lost to USU". It's "I can't believe we beat a Div I school!!!11!one" So the program has a ways to go.

That being said, this isn't a negative post. I really enjoyed watching these football players play with heart. Despite cringing every time the ball was thrown Soelberg's way, how cool it was to see the teammates back slap, head butt, and high five him for his big play in the fourth quarter. I've wondered about Bronco's disciplinarian coaching methods, but you know something's right when you see the team act like that. They rally around each other, and they're still genuinely positive. It's an intangible that I can't really explain, but a good sign of the team's mental fortitude. Of course we're still going to see lots of completed passes on our DBs this year, but it was good to see Robinson and Soelberg make some plays to keep us in the game. Major props to the 5th lightest player in college football for protecting his corner of the endzone.

Also, was it just me, or was everyone yelling "Hold on to the BALL!!" when Watkins made that long catch and run in the fourth quarter? I had serious UNLV and TCU flashbacks. I was watching the game with a fellow fan here in Irvine, and I think we were both screaming that at the top of our lungs.

Lastly, major props to Beck for playing a good game and guiding the team back when down two scores. And these weren't gimmes, although we were aided by a couple of penalties. Still, he's starting to show that he can come from behind and win/tie, which was severely lacking the last few years. I think it's important for the coaches to give a few plays in the beginning to let Beck settle into his game rhythm. It seems that early pressure from the defense can set a tone for the rest of the game (compare SDSU vs NM). Beck's eventually going to have overcome this, but hopefully it will become less of an issue as he gets comfortable with the offense.

It's good to finally win going away.  And yes, I'm working on a New Mexico clip.  Patience please.

4/14/05 - In honor of the end of Spring Football, I finally finished the BYU vs Wyoming Clip.  Please, don't kill my server...as a graduating undergrad from BYU, I do not have the funds to pay for a massive bandwidth spike.  Be nice. I'll put mirrors up as they appear throughout the day.

3/1/05 - Not too many exciting things going for BYU. Excited to see what Coach Mendenhall does this season as well as the new offense.  I'm disappointed in the basketball season, but really enjoyed watching the Cougars play hard against the U on Saturday.  Good game, and I liked seeing the fire out of Ainge, Miles etc.  By the way, if anyone is willing to give me a copy of the upcoming Blue and White game, I'd be willing to make something for those football starved BYU fans.  Contact me by e-mail. Also e-mail me if you'd like to see Austin Collie's last 2004 TD catch, just want to gauge general interest.

1/27/05 - There have been a lot of changes lately with BYU Sports.  I did want to thank Coach Crowton for making a die-hard Cougar fan in 2001.  I was in attendance for the BYU vs UofU game that season, and I can point to that game as the day I went from being a normal BYU fan to being a fanatic.  I knew even in the 3rd quarter the outcome of the game, that'd we get behind and wait until the last two minutes to score.  It was inevitable.  That game and the OSU vs BYU basketball game are the two best sporting events I have attended as a student at the Y.

11/10/04 - SDSU Highlights are now available.  I do apologize for the delay in the Wyoming replay; I will get to it, although it probably won't be soon enough for everyone. I also wanted to thank all those who have e-mailed me with comments and/or salutations.  There are a lot of Cougar fans who are unable to view the games or follow the team, and these clips are just my contribution as a fan, for the other fans/players out there.  BTW, Collie's catch is one of the finest I've seen in person.  Brilliant play.

10/25/04 - It was great to see the BYU of old this past Saturday, if only for couple of quarters.  Perhaps this is the beginning of the return to the offensive fireworks again.  The "green jello" bug has been fixed, and here is the Air Force highlight.  I'll update this page throughout the day as more mirrors pop up.  It's possible I'll also upload a Quicktime file for those people who are having issues with Windows Media Player.  Thank you again to MSCoug, HuskerFan2, and Bagger Vance for providing additional links.

p.s. I'll probably end up getting to the Wyoming clips during the bye week

10/20/04 - Regarding the Wyoming game:  I'm running into a nasty bug in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 where editing clips creates this UGLY green tint over the video. I've done Google searches, looked through Adobe support, and gone through all my resources to find a solution to this bug. Despite spending half a night, I've found nothing (and BTW, Adobe Support and Forums are a complete joke). I won't be able to continue until I find a solution to this bug as the rendered video also has the monkey barf green in it. It makes it look like all the players are playing in a sea of lime jello.

Not very many solutions are available for me at the moment (and I'm good at finding computer solutions). Premiere Pro 1.5 is supposedly the standard for video editing on the PC side. I can't really switch to anything else. On the Apple side, Final Cut Pro is heads above Premiere, but also costs hundreds of dollars more. And I don't have a Mac. My last resort is to post a message for help in one of the video editing forums.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Hopefully this will get straightened out. As for now, go Cougars, beat Air Force.

9/25/04 - Despite the loss against BSU (and what a heartbreaker it was), I'm upbeat for the rest of this season.   Here are the highlights of the Boise State game.  It finally looks like the Cougars are breaking out of their slump.

9/9/04 - It's football season again, and with that a revival of this page.  Here are highlight clips from the Notre Dame game.   Enjoy.  If you have places to host these clips (so I can save my bandwidth costs), feel free to e-mail me.  I also apologize in advance, but these clips are only in Windows Media Format, and most likely require Windows Media Player 9.  This is for compression purposes to keep the file size manageable.
